After performing all the steps simply scrub with a baby toothbrush (very soft) without scraping, until it is completely clean.
· Hydrogen Peroxide and Isopropyl Alcohol
When it comes to killing germs and bacteria hydrogen peroxide and high purity isopropyl alcohol are excellent alternatives as long as your jewelry does not have nacre or organic components such as pearls.
Use a spray bottle with a spray dispenser and wet your engagement ring thoroughly. Use the least porous or rustic towel possible to remove dirt.
· Less frequent methods
There are other elements to deep clean engagement rings at home such as vinegar and baking soda. If you wish to implement alternative methods such as these we strongly suggest that you be very careful and make sure that the concentrations are appropriate.
The last thing we want is to rub our engagement ring with gritty traces of baking soda which can cause damage to the metal or fragile gems as the case may be.
· Alternative methods at home
There are professional solutions that are used to clean fine jewelry pieces such as engagement rings and they are more or less recommended. They simply consist of using the liquid on the jewelry and the dirt is removed by itself using a cloth.
Before using a professional solution be sure to read the instructions and components thoroughly until you are completely sure that they will work for your particular piece of jewelry.
How often should I clean my engagement ring?
Will depend on your daily activities, time availability and type of jewelry. Cleaning a ring too much can be counterproductive. To keep things simple, it would be normal to clean your jewelry every two to three weeks on a quick basis. Every month or couple of months in depth. Finally, schedule a professional cleaning no later than two years.
